Behaviour that matters in service
- High-temperature creep strength — Exceptional resistance to creep deformation and rupture up to about 980 °C, for long-term load-bearing parts.
- Fatigue resistance — Holds structural integrity under cyclic thermal and mechanical stress.
- Precipitation-hardenable — Solution annealed at 1080 – 1120 °C and aged at 700 – 760 °C for peak properties.
- Oxidation resistance — Forms a dense adherent oxide layer, resisting scaling up to about 1000 °C.
- Corrosion resistance — Performs in mildly corrosive industrial atmospheres and dilute acid or alkaline media.
- Fabricability — Forged, rolled and machined with heat-resistant tooling; welded by TIG or MIG with post-weld heat treatment.
Typical applications
- Aerospace — Turbine discs, compressor blades and combustion chamber liners.
- Power generation — High-pressure turbine blades, rotor components and steam pipe fittings.
- Industrial turbomachinery — Blades and discs for gas turbines in refining and petrochemical service.
- Nuclear — Components for advanced reactor designs requiring high-temperature stability.
- High-temperature furnaces — Heating elements, furnace liners and supports above 900 °C.
- Fasteners — High-stress bolts, nuts and brackets for hot sections.
